Widely recognized as the largest and most prominent real estate practice
in Romania, this Group reflects the strength, diversity and
sophistication that are the hallmarks of RMDT. The practice of our real
estate attorneys extends to all aspects of real estate development and
finance in Romania, with broad experience and expertise in matters
relating to the ownership, assembly, acquisition, development,
construction, operation, financing and securing of real estate assets.
Our real estate practice handles transactions of all sizes and
complexities, whether it is for a local client wishing to purchase a
piece of property, or for a multinational corporation involved in a
multi-asset transaction spanning various states and foreign
jurisdictions. As always, our real estate attorneys have seamless
connections to other practice groups and readily rely upon our tax,
employment, corporate and international attorneys. In the representation
of both foreign and domestic clients, our real estate attorneys have
participated in various acquisitions, dispositions, financings,
work-outs and restructurings, developments, foreign multi-tiered
investments, sale-leasebacks, and all forms of commercial leasing,
including offices, industrial properties, partnerships, joint ventures
and syndications.
Specifically, RMDT represents prominent U.S., Israel and Greek and
international developers in a wide range of matters including land use
studies and site acquisition, negotiation and drafting of construction
agreements, shareholder partnership and limited liability company
operating agreements, as well as lease transactions and environmental
law issues. These disciplines combine in the development of projects
such as the purchase and sale of land for the development of various
urban areas for a proposed multi-billion dollar entertainment center.
Our real estate attorneys have, among other things, continued to provide
advice for the redevelopment of Baneasa Airport, Bucharest's national
airport, the development of more than twelve hotel and resort projects
throughout the region, numerous office buildings (including Europa
House), and the acquisitions of lands and negotiations of leases for
properties, including the preparation of purchase and sale agreements,
and mortgage and funding documents. The Firm has also counseled the
Government of Romania in regard to the creation of historic urban
district legislation, as well as urban business improvement legislation,
in connection with the renovation of the nation's historic urban
districts.
